In the star player’s absence, S Meghna has made an impact while Shafali has continued to struggle in the 50-over format since her arrival last year.

Harmanpreet Kaur has scored just two 50 plus scores since the 2017 World Cup in England where India reached the final. The 32-year-old had a fitness problem last year, but after an impressive WBBL, he was expected to repeat that performance at the highest level.

India is yet to set the bilateral rubber on fire with another series loss against New Zealand.

Diana Edulji told PTI, “If you are going with the same criteria that were applied to drop Jemima Rodrigues, which was mentioned by the coach (Ramesh Powar), then the same criteria should be applied to Harmanpreet. “

“I’m very hopeless of her. She was my favorite player but you can’t stick to that one inning (171 against Australia in 2017). She’s just an innings away from a big inning, but the effort has to be there.

Harman is Not Performing:-

Even on the captaincy front, Smriti is at the forefront of all the profiles after Mithali as Harman is not performing. I wouldn’t mind leaving him for the next game.

Sneh Rana is a good replacement for him,” said the 66-year-old, who was a member of the Supreme Court-authorized committee that governed the BCCI for 33 months.

Teenage sensation Shafali averages 25 in eight matches since her arrival in England last year. In two years of international cricket, the bowlers have discovered the weakness of his game which is not allowing him to play freely. Edulji wants to work on her game as well.

“Shafali Verma needs a little rap on the knuckles, she needs proper grooming. She is moving towards square leg and playing. There is no stability in her stance. I don’t understand.

The Respect For Bowlers at this Level:-

When she was scoring, it was not so. (trigger) The type of movement. The bowlers have found her and that is why she is going away from the stumps to play her strokes. But you have to respect the bowlers at this level,” Diana Edulji said.

“New Zealand batsmen are very good sections of the wicket. Our spinners are telling them not to play a lot on the front foot. They are very good on the back foot.

Keep long on and long off, blowing the ball higher and bringing them forward. 270 was a good score to defend and we should have defended. Fielding was also bad.”
