London: The England Cricket Board on Thursday announced the appointment of Jos Buttler as the new captain of England’s limited overs team. He will replace Eoin Morgan, the world-winning captain who recently announced international cricket due to poor form.
After being named the new captain of England’s limited overs cricket, Butler said, “I thank Eoin Morgan, who has led England brilliantly in the last seven years.” It was a memorable phase for everyone associated with the team. He was an inspiring captain and it was a great experience to play under him. I learned a lot from him and I will use them while leading the team.

“It is the greatest honor to captain my country, and when I have had the opportunity to lead the team in the past, I have loved captaining it. I can’t wait to take this team forward.

Jos Buttler has been the vice-captain of the limited overs team since 2015. He has captained the team in 14 matches (9 ODIs and five T20Is). Butler said, it is a matter of pride for me to be given the responsibility of captaincy after Eoin Morgan. He has left England at a very high stage in limited overs cricket and I am ready to face the challenges ahead.

Team India will be the first challenge in front of Butler
Butler has played 57 Tests, 151 ODIs and 88 T20 matches and has scored 9,167 runs to his name. He is one of the only three cricketers in England to have scored centuries in all three formats. The England team is currently the number 2 team in both the ODI and T20 formats. The upcoming ODI and T20 series against India will be his first assignment as a full-time captain….
