English Bowler Maia Bouchier Signs a Deal With Melbourne Stars

Melbourne Stars recently signed England’s first batsman Mia Boucher for the upcoming WBBL season.

The 22-year-old made his T20I debut in England’s recent series against New Zealand after some promising performances for the Southern Braves in the women’s hundred. She had a steady season for the Southern Vipers in the Rachel Hehowe Flint Trophy. Which helped the Vipers reach the finals.

Melbourne lost veteran South African middle-order batsman Mignon du Preez to Hobart Hurricanes :

The Melbourne Stars have lost veteran South African middle-order batsman Mignon du Preez to the Hobart Hurricanes. And Boucher joins the relatively inexperienced middle-order behind the star-studded top-order duo of Meg Lanning and Alice Villani.

Boucher thanked the Melbourne Stars for the opportunity to join:

“I’ve seen the WBBL from the UK in recent seasons. And we know what quality tournament it’s a part of,” Boucher said. “I am really excited to make my debut in the competition and I would like to thank the Melbourne for the opportunity for involved.

“The stars have some great players. And I know how close they went to winning the title last year. So hopefully I can contribute to a successful season.”

Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades to be allowed to train after completing quarantine :

Bouchier will be require to undergo a 14-day mandatory hotel quarantine. When entering Australia ahead of the tournament beginning on October 14. Melbourne-based players from the Stars will be require to serve a 14-day quarantine in Hobart after the first 20 matches of the WBBL. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and lockdown in Victoria and New South Wales, Tasmania moved. But the Stars and Melbourne Renegades will be allow to train after completing their quarantine. However, the two Sydney-based sides will not be grant training exemptions while in quarantine due to the severity of the Sydney outbreak.
