The First Match of The Test Series :-

Despite winning the first match of the Test series in a dominating manner at Centurion, IND vs SA lost the three-match Test series against Dean Elgar-led South Africa 1-2-1.

Additionally, the Indian team’s poor performance in the One Day International series continued as India, led by KL Rahul, lost the first match by 31 runs and the second match by 7 wickets against Temba Bavuma-led South Africa.

The third and final match of the ODI series is being played at Newlands, Cape Town on Sunday.

The India’s Poor Performance :-

During a discussion on Star Sports, Gautam Gambhir was asked about the reasons for India’s poor performance in SA, to which he replied:

“Fear of losing, you don’t play on honour, cricket is not playing on honour. It is playing in the middle. Many people say that India’s top-4 or top-5 is very explosive and very experienced. But The way you play in the middle is the only way to determine the outcome.”

The Opener Gautam Gambhir also said :-

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir also said that the Indian team is expecting to look beyond the fear of losing matches, he said.

IND vs SA -“We have to look beyond the fear of losing and the fear of performing ourselves, that ‘I shouldn’t get out, I should score runs’.”

Gambhir believes that India is expecting to value small contributions as they cannot win ICC tournaments just on the basis of figures, He elaborated.

“We are expecting to value small contributions not only from the team management. But also from all perspectives (experts and media). Unless you give importance to them, you will just be data-driven and numbers-driven.

And it doesn’t make you win series and ICC tournaments. The combination of everything will get you big tournaments.”
