The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday announced the first Women’s Future Tours Program (FTP) for the period May 2022 to April 2025, leading up to the 50-over World Cup.
“This is a huge moment for the Inter women’s game,” said ICC’s general manager of cricket, Wasim Khan. “This FTP not only provides certainty for future International cricket tours but also lays the groundwork for a structure that is sure to evolve in the years to come,” he added.
Over that period, 10 teams – Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies – will play eight bilateral ODI series as part of the 2022–25 ICC.Women’s Championship to determine qualification for the next 50-over Women’s World Cup to be held in India. Incidentally, India and Pakistan will not play each other in both parts of the championship.
England will play five Tests in this period, Australia will play four, South Africa three and India will play two. India will play one Test each against England and Australia at home in 2023-24. England last played a Test against India in November 2005. On the other hand, Australia last played a Test match in India in 1984.
