Happy Birthday Brad Hogg: Personal life and Career

George Bradley Hogg is a former Australian cricketer who played all formats of the game. He was a left-arm wrist spin bowler and a lower-order left-handed batsman. Hogg whose birthday is today. 6 February 1971 (age 51), Narrogin, Australia.

Rajasthan Royals bought him for $180,000-

His decision to come back was very surprising. After a brief stint as a commentator. he returned to Perth to play grade cricket. This led to a surprise call-up for the Perth Scorchers in the 2012 BBL. And his childlike zeal saw his recall at the age of 40 in the national Twenty20 team against India in 2011-12. IPL was also paying attention to him. When Rajasthan Royals bought him for $180,000.

Man-of-the-Series award against Bangladesh, Hogg passed 100 ODI wickets in April 2006.

He has always been seen publicly as one of cricket’s fun-loving and quirky characters, former Test spinner Brad Hogg has opened up about how retirement and a marriage breakdown led him to contemplate ending his life.

Retirees to save century from ex-wife Andrea-

A decision was taken after seven Tests and after Australia won the 2003 and 2007 World Cups. In which he retired from all forms of cricket with no other option but to save his marriage to ex-wife Andrea (2007–08).

Autobiography, ”The Wrong ‘Un”-

In his autobiography, The Wrong ‘Un, Hogg details the depth he experienced over the next three years when, after the marriage ended, he turned to alcohol and found no satisfaction in his office job.

He said, “I knew I was daring a misery. I was giving myself shit. I’d meet someone and I could only talk about how full my life was.”

“Sometimes I went to Fremantle to think about what was happening in my life. I parked my car at Port Beach and went for a walk. I would stare at the ocean and think, I could swim in that As for Groyne, and if I return it, fine. If I don’t return it… well, tough luck. I was ready to let fate decide. I was in a really dark place.

Baby wasn’t the solution for our frayed relationship-

“Sadly, but predictably, my marriage headed downhill very fast. Our daughter Erin was born, but as awesome as she is, I soon understood that a baby wasn’t the solution for our frayed relationship. Within two years we were separated, and a costly divorce followed. I had failed. It had all been for nothing,” he said.

Having also found love again-

In January 2011, Hogg returned to cricket as a fill-in during WA Country Week and would make the leap back to grade cricket the following summer. He then received a call from Warriors coach Mickey Arthur about his interest in playing for the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash. Having also found love again with Cheryl Bresland, a well-known corporate entertainment manager, his life – and career – had been revived.
