Cricket Ireland has released that 40-year-old coach Heinrich Malan, who has extensive coaching in New Zealand, will succeed Graham Ford as full-time head coach for the men’s team.
The former South African domestic cricketer has had a fruitful coaching resume. which includes working with the NZ men’s team as an assistant coach and batting coach at various periods.
He has also previously coached New Zealand A and begins his new role in March upon a three-year concussion.

While Malan officially succeeds Ford in a full-time background. he will actually take over the charge from interim head coach David Ripley.
Ripley, the former Northamptonshire boss, has accompanied Ireland to tour the United States and the West Indies after Ford resigned due to fatigue caused by directing in the post-COVID-19 world.
Heinrich Malan has accumulated considerable success as a coach outside the New Zealand national team as well. After ending his first-class career in South Africa in 2009, he earned his coaching certificate with Cricket South Africa.
In NZ, under his coaching, the Central Districts Stags won one-day competitions (Ford Trophy) in 2014–15 and 2015–16, first-class competition (Plunkett Shield) in 2017-18 and 2018-19, and in 2018-19. Domestic T20 Competition (Super Smash). In addition to moving to the Auckland Aces, he won the 2019-20 Ford Trophy as a coach.
“My coaching philosophy has certainly evolved over time and I look forward to getting to know this group of players and staff so that we can collaboratively shape our environment the way we want to operate on a daily basis. are,” Malan said.
