Virat Kohli was one of the longest-serving captains in IPL history but when he stepped down after the 2021 season, only a 2016 runner-up finish was the best the team managed under his leadership Was. He will now try to get the team the title with the current captain Faf du Plessis. Former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar feels that this could be the year of Kohli and RCB.

Sanjay said on ESPNCricinfo –

“Yes, I feel Virat Kohli’s dream of winning the trophy will come true this time. They have a wonderful bowling attack. If Faf du Plessis scores runs, they will have a great chance.”

RCB’s Director of Cricket Mike Hesson had said that the team would look to go with an opening combination of Kohli and Du Plessis along with Rajat Patidar at No.3. However, with Patidar now set to miss the first half of IPL 2023, RCB might have to revisit that strategy.

Hazlewood’s availability in doubt for RCB –

Patidar’s injury comes amid doubts over Josh Hazlewood’s availability for RCB. The Australian fast bowler is currently recovering from Achilles tendonitis. He flew home in February midway through the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after missing the first two Tests. Hazlewood’s fitness is being closely monitored as Australia have the World Test Championship final and the Ashes due immediately after the IPL ends on May 28.
