ICC gives another big blow to Sri Lanka Cricket Board, snatches hosting of U-19 World Cup

ICC and Sri Lanka Cricket Board: The problems of Sri Lanka Cricket Board are not showing signs of decreasing. After suspending the Cricket Board, ICC has now snatched away the hosting of the U-19 World Cup.

U 19 World Cup: Hosting snatched from Sri Lanka :-

Taking a big decision, ICC has decided to organize the Under-19 World Cup in South Africa instead of Sri Lanka. The International Cricket Council has taken this step after suspending the Sri Lanka Cricket Board. Let us tell you that due to the interference of the government, ICC had suspended the Sri Lanka Cricket Board with immediate effect.

Sri Lankan team will be able to take part in the tournament :-

However, ICC has made it clear that the Sri Lankan cricket team will be able to participate in the Under-19 World Cup. Sri Lanka will play in the tournament like other teams, which has been confirmed by the International Cricket Council itself. Losing the hosting rights of the World Cup is certainly a big blow for the Sri Lanka Cricket Board.

When will the tournament start:-

U-19 World Cup is to start from 14 January 2024. The tournament will now be organized on South African soil. The final match of U-19 World Cup will be played on 15 February. That means, after fighting a month long battle, the Under-19 champion team will be decided.
