ICC Women’s ODI Rankings: Chamari Athapaththu creates history, Harmanpreet suffers loss

Chamari Athapaththu No.1 in ODI Rankings: Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur has dropped one place in the ICC ODI rankings for batsmen that were released on Tuesday. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur has come at sixth. Star batsman Harmanpreet has 716 rating points.

Chamari Athapaththu created history :-

Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu is at number one in the rankings with 758 points. She is the first female player in the country to achieve this feat. In the bowling list, Sophie Ecclestone of England is at number one with 751 points.

The first Sri Lankan player to come in the ranking :-

Coming to the ICC Women’s Championship, left-handed opener Chamari Athapaththu is the only Sri Lankan player from the men’s side to top the ODI rankings after Sanath Jayasuriya. Jayasuriya top ranked men’s player for 181 days between September 2002 and May 2003.

Athapaththu’s two centuries in three matches has taken her up six places in the rankings, behind Harmanpreet, Meg Lanning, Laura Wolvaardt and Australia’s Beth Mooney. Beth Mooney was at the top of the batting charts since 10 May.
