IND vs ENG, 2nd Test: James Anderson broke 72 years old record

IND vs ENG, 2nd Test: England’s fast bowler James Anderson created history as soon as he took the field in the second Test match on Friday, 2 February. Anderson has become the oldest fast bowler to participate in a Test match.

Anderson achieved this feat at the age of 41 years and 187 days during the second Test match against India in Visakhapatnam. As soon as he stepped on the field, Anderson broke an old record that had been standing for 72 years in Test cricket.

James Anderson broke the big record of Lala Amarnath :-

Before James Anderson, the oldest fast bowler to play Test cricket was former Indian player Lala Amarnath, who played a Test match against Pakistan in 1952 at the age of 41 years and 92 days. This match was the last test match of Lala Amarnath. At third place in this list is Roy Lindwall of Australia, who played a Test against India in 1960 at the age of 38 years and 112 days.

Anderson became the fifth oldest player:-

Anderson has also become the fifth oldest player to play Test. Zimbabwean player John Tricos holds the record for playing most matches in 1993 at the age of 45 years 304 days.

The fourth name in the list of fast bowlers who played Test cricket at the oldest age is that of former Indian player Shute Banerjee, who played a Test match against West Indies in 1949 at the age of 37 years and 124 days. At fifth place is Ghulam Gard of India, who played Test cricket against Australia in 1969 at the age of 34 years and 20 days.
