Virat Kohli ‘s emergency leave revealed: Ahead of the start of the two-match Test series in South Africa, Virat Kohli reportedly returned home due to a “family emergency”. He had taken prior permission from the team management and BCCI to skip the intra-squad match organized to prepare the Indian team for South African conditions.

IND vs SA, 1st Test: King Kohli joined the Indian team :-

The former India captain rejoined the Indian team and was also seen at the practice nets on December 24. However, a recent report has revealed that Kohli had indeed traveled to London during that break and it was not due to any family emergency.

According to News 18, the BCCI and the Indian team management were aware of Kohli’s trip to London and he was never supposed to play in the intra-squad game to be held in Pretoria from December 20 to 22.

A senior BCCI official said this :-

“Virat Kohli was not going to play that match. The team management was aware of their plan and schedule, and this is not something that happened overnight or due to a family emergency situation. Look at the player we are talking about, it is Virat Kohli. He is very well planned when it comes to these things and his trip to London was well-informed and planned,” a senior BCCI official told the website.

The officer further said :-

“Kohli left India for South Africa on December 15. He did 3-4 good training sessions before leaving for London on December 19. He was in London for the next few days and has now joined the Test team and has Will be included.” The training is likely to take place at Centurion tomorrow,” the officer said.
