IND vs SA, Rohit Sharma: India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series after defeating South Africa by 16 runs in the second match of the three-match T20 series on Sunday night. With this, Rohit Sharma has become the captain to win the most consecutive T20 series. In this matter, he has overtaken former captain Virat Kohli.

Rohit Sharma made this record of Virat Kohli in his name :-

Rohit Sharma took charge of the team after the T20 World Cup 2021 and since then the team has not lost any T20 series under his captaincy. Under Rohit’s captaincy, India won this series for the 11th consecutive series.

Earlier, the record of winning most consecutive T20 series was in the name of Kohli. India won 10 T20 series under his leadership.

India won the T20 series against South Africa for the first time on home soil :-

Taking an unassailable lead in the series over South Africa, Rohit Sharma has done what even Dhoni, Kohli and Pant could not do. Actually, Team India’s record in T20 at home against South Africa has not been good.

India had never before beat South Africa in a T20I series at home. But Rohit Sharma ended this drought on Sunday and gave India its first win.

Here is the journey before winning the series for the first time from South Africa :-

For the first time in 2015, South Africa played a T20 series on the tour of India. During that time, India lost the series 0-2 under the captaincy of Dhoni. After this, the other two series were played in 2019 and 2022 and both these series were drawn.

In 2019, under Kohli’s captaincy, the 2-match series ended in a 1-1 draw, while the same year the 5-match T20 series ended at 2-2. One match of the series was washed out due to rain. Rishabh Pant was the captain of India in this series.

Talking about the competition, India, batting first, had set a huge target of 238 runs in front of South Africa with the help of half-centuries from KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav. During this, Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 49.

Chasing this score, David Miller scored a century and Quinton de Kock scored a half-century, but he could not win his team. South Africa could score 221 runs in the allotted 20 overs for the loss of 3 wickets.
