MI vs CSK: Chennai Bowlers Scared of Dhoni’s Warning, did Not throw a Single no ball Against Mumbai, Tushar also Became Fatal

In IPL 2023, two matches were played on Saturday. The first match was played between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals, in which Sanju Samson-led RR defeated David Warner-led DC by 57 runs. After this, the second match took place between the two legendary teams of IPL.

Four-time champions Chennai Super Kings, led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, defeated five-time champions Mumbai Indians by seven wickets. After these two matches, the equation of the points table has changed. The team of Rajasthan Royals has reached the top, while Chennai has come in fourth place. Rohit-led Mumbai team has slipped to eighth and Delhi to ninth position.

Steady Bowling by Chennai Fast Bowlers

The most interesting thing that was noticed in the match between Mumbai and Chennai was that the CSK bowlers did not bowl a single no ball in this match. Dhoni looked very happy with this. The advantage of this was that the CSK team stopped Mumbai on a low score. In fact, Chennai bowlers bowled a lot of no balls in the first two matches against Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Supergiants. Dhoni was very angry with this. He also warned his bowlers and the team after winning the match against Lucknow.

Why Was Dhoni Angry With his Bowlers?

Against Gujarat, the Chennai bowlers conceded 12 runs from extras, including four wides and two no-balls. Tushar Deshpande and Rajvardhan Hungergekar bowled one no ball each. After this, in the match against Lucknow, chasing Chennai’s 215 runs, Lucknow scored 205 runs. CSK bowlers gave away 18 runs from extras, which included 13 wides and three no balls. These three no balls were thrown by Tushar Deshpande. At the same time, five wides were thrown by Deepak Chahar, four Tushar and three wides by Hungergekar. Dhoni was very angry with this.

What Was the Warning Given by Dhoni?

Captain Cool had said after the match against Lucknow that if the Chennai fast bowlers did not stop throwing no balls, he would step down from the captaincy and the team would have to play under a new captain. He had said that this would be my second warning and I would leave. After this, there was a tremendous improvement in the bowlers of Chennai. Against Mumbai, CSK gave only eight runs as extras, but there was not a single no ball in them. After Dhoni’s warning, there was a tremendous improvement in the pace bowlers of CSK. Not only this, Tushar also clean bowled Rohit Sharma on the best ball.

Moeen and Stokes Were Not Playing

Moin Ali and Ben Stokes were not playing in this match. In such a situation, Dhoni landed on the field with a different playing combination. Deepak Chahar was injured in the first over itself. In such a situation, only Tushar Deshpande, Magala and Dwayne Pretorius were available with Chennai as fast bowlers. Tushar spent 31 runs in three overs, while Magala took 37 runs in four overs in his debut match. Pretorius gave away 28 runs in four overs.

Due to not getting no ball and free-hit, the effect was that the Mumbai team could only score less. Batting first at the Wankhede Stadium, the Mumbai team could manage only 157 runs losing eight wickets in 20 overs. Captain Rohit Sharma 21 runs in 13 balls, Ishaan Kishan 32 runs in 21 balls, Cameron Green 12 runs in 11 balls, Suryakumar Yadav one run, Tilak Verma 22 runs in 18 balls, Arshad Khan two runs, Tristan Stubbs could score five runs. In the end, Tim David scored 31 runs in 22 balls and Hrithik Shokeen scored 18* runs in 13 balls. Ravindra Jadeja took the maximum three wickets from Chennai. At the same time, Tushar Deshpande and Mitchell Santner got two wickets each. Sisanda Magala took one wicket.

In response, Chennai achieved the target by losing three wickets in 18.1 overs. Devon Conway returned to the pavilion without opening the account. However, after this Ajinkya Rahane played a stormy innings. He got out after scoring 61 runs in 27 balls. Rahane hit seven fours and three sixes in his innings. At the same time, Shivam Dubey played an inning of 28 runs in 26 balls. Rituraj Gaikwad scored 40 runs in 36 balls with the help of two fours and a six and Ambati Rayudu remained unbeaten after scoring 20 runs in 16 balls with the help of three fours. Jason Behrendorff, Piyush Chawla and Kumar Kartikeya got one wicket each for Mumbai.
