Queensland beat Victoria by an innings and 10 runs on the second day after 16 wickets on the first day. Resuming 130/6, the hosts lost three for six during the first hour, which saw Scott Boland at his best in testing conditions. But a mature tenth wicket stand between Gurinder Sandhu (42 off 81) and Mitchell Swepson (28 off 40) took the score from 139/9 to 205. This lead of 142 proved to be too much for Victoria who were reduced to 132 runs.

South Australia clash against Western Australia
Henry Hunt and Nathan McSweeney hit half-centuries on the first day of South Australia’s Shield clash against Western Australia. Opting to bat first, South Australia got off to a very good start by scoring 44 runs in Jake Weatherd’s run. Hunt had time to bat at the other end as WA finally made a breakthrough by getting rid of Weatherold. Hunt then took charge of the runs and added 84 runs for the second wicket with Daniel Drew.
WA then staged a strong fight by picking up wickets at regular intervals as SA surprisingly went from 161/1 to 180/5. Matthew Kelly was the bowlers’ choice as he removed Hunt for 71 before Jake Lehmann was dismissed for a first-ball duck. Harry Nielsen and McSweeney then revived the innings and ensured. No further damage was done by the stumps adding 96 for the sixth wicket. The pair will be expected to join their tally on the second morning.
Brief scores: South Australia 276/5 (Henry Hunt 71, Nathan McSweeney 66*; Matthew Kelly 3/29) vs Western Australia
