Poor Starting of Australia in the fifth Ashes Test

Hobart, Jan 14 (AP) England made an impressive start on the first day of the fifth Ashes Test on Friday with Australia taking four wickets for 85 runs by lunch.

World number one batsman Marnus Labuschagne was dismissed in a strange manner after scoring 44 off 53 balls. He slips to the crease and by the time he could get up, Stuart Broad’s ball took his middle stump.

Broad and Ollie Robinson 15. Taking two wickets for 15 runs and winning the toss proved the decision of fielding captain Joe Root to be correct.

Jacques Crowley also took two good catches in the slips but Labuschagne’s catch dropped. At lunch, Travis Head playing 31 off 33 balls and Cameron Green scored two runs.

Broad bowled three consecutive maiden overs to trouble both Australian openers David Warner and Usman Khawaja. Warner caught by Robinson at the hands of Crowley, who could not even open the account after playing 22 balls.

Australia had lost three wickets for 12 runs in the first ten overs

Khawaja scored six runs and caught in the slips off Broad. At the same time, Robinson sent Steve Smith (0) to the pavilion. Australia had lost three wickets for 12 runs in the first ten overs.

England made five changes to the team for this match. Jonny Bairstow, who suffered a thumb injury in the Sydney Test, and wicketkeeper Jos Buttler, who suffered a finger fracture, not playing. Openers Haseeb Hameed, Jimmy Anderson and Jack Leach, who are struggling with poor form, have also not found a place in the team.

Ben Stokes, who suffered a muscle strain in Sydney, is in the squad. Rory Burns has returned to the team, who will open the innings alongside Jacques Crowley. Ollie Pope, Sam Billings, Chris Woakes and Ollie Robinson have also found a place in the team. Scott Boland has passed the fitness test and will play.

They have brought in Travis Head in place of opener Marcus Harris

Australia have won the first three Tests and won the series while the fourth Test in Sydney ended in a draw.
