Rashid Khan has withdrawn his name from the 13th edition of the Big Bash League due to a back injury. The Afghanistan all-rounder, who plays for the Adelaide Strikers, is yet to undergo a minor surgery.
“Rashid has withdrawn from the upcoming BBL 13 due to a back injury which required a minor operation,” the Strikers said in a statement on Thursday (November 23).
While the Strikers have not yet announced a replacement for Rashid, the club has stated that they will retain Rashid’s retention rights for future seasons.

“Rashid is a beloved member of the Strikers and a fan favorite who has been with us for seven years, so he will be greatly missed this summer,” Adelaide Strikers general manager of cricket Tim Neilson said.
Since making his BBL debut in December 2017, The Afghanistan all-rounder has taken 98 wickets in 69 matches at an average of 17.51 and an economy of 6.44.
Rashid is the second high-profile withdrawal from the upcoming BBL, with Melbourne Stars’ Harry Brook previously opting out to manage his workload.
