Rashid Latif, “Virat Kohli was never the best player of T20”

Rashid Latif: Virat Kohli, who has been battling poor form for some time now, is finding his rhythm in the Asia Cup. He scored a half-century against Hong Kong after scoring a crucial 35 during the run chase in the first match against Pakistan. This is Virat’s first fifty after February this year.

Against Hong Kong, Kohli played an unbeaten innings of 59 runs off 44 balls with the help of one four and three sixes. After this innings of Kohli, the former Pakistan cricketer has given a controversial statement. He has said that Kohli was never the best T20 player and added that he can never become Suryakumar Yadav or Rohit Sharma.

Rashid Latif said on Pakistani YouTube show ‘Game On Hai’, ‘Virat can never become Suryakumar, can never become Rohit Sharma. His way of playing is the same in RCB as well, that’s why he never became a champion.

During this, the former Pakistani cricketer questioned Kohli’s strike rate and also compared him to Dhoni. Latif said, ‘Let’s take the example of Dhoni. If he plays three-four dot balls, he will make everything equal by hitting three sixes, but Virat will not be able to do that. So it is not the matter whether Virat Kohli played slow or played fast today. This is how he plays.

He further said, ‘Virat Kohli was never the best player of T20. He has a good average, but strikerate… we can compare him with Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, Joe Root, Babar Azam. But none of them have been great match winners in T20Is.

Kohli Best Player of One Day :-

Latif described Kohli as the best player of ODIs and said that there is no one close to him here.

He said, ‘There is no one even close to Virat Kohli in ODIs. There are three phases in ODI cricket. First 1-10 overs, then 11-40 and then the last over. This is a different game. You need the most skill in ODI cricket. That’s how Virat Kohli plays.
