Cardiff: English county side Glamorgan on Friday confirmed the signing of India opener Shubman Gill for their ongoing County Championship season. Gill will represent Glamorgan in the County Championship match against Worcestershire starting 5 September. He was followed by Cheteshwar Pujara (Sussex), Washington Sundar (Lancashire), Krunal Pandya (50-over match for Warwickshire), Umesh Yadav (Middlesex), Navdeep Saini (Kent) and Mohammad Siraj (Warwickshire County match) in the 2022 English domestic. Became the seventh Indian player to be signed for a cricket season.

Shubman Gill has become the third Indian after former India all-rounder and head coach Ravi Shastri (1987–91) and former India captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly (2005) to play for Glamorgan in the County Championship. “I look forward to joining the Glamorgan team as they push to move forward,” Gill said. I have always wanted to enjoy playing here. And am looking forward to experiencing county cricket and the challenges it brings.

In which he has scored 579 runs at an average of 30.47. He last featured in Test cricket in July this year in the rescheduled fifth Test against England at Edgbaston, Birmingham. In which he scored 17 and 4 in India’s seven-wicket loss.

He has been performing well in ODIs. Where he adjudged player of the series for scoring 205. And 245 runs in the two three-match 50-over series against West Indies and Zimbabwe respectively.
