On Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced that Rohit Sharma will be ruled out of the three-match Test series in South Africa due to a left hamstring injury during a training session in Mumbai.

On Monday, the BCCI announced that Rohit Sharma rules out of the Test series with opener Priyank Panchal. Part of India A tour earlier this month, named as his replacement.

A BCCI tweet read, “Priyank Panchal joins India’s Test squad as a replacement for injured Rohit Sharma. Rohit suffered a left hamstring injury during his training session in Mumbai yesterday. He will be in the upcoming 3 matches against South Africa. Will be in. Test Series.

According to sources, it will take about a month for Sharma to recover from the hamstring injury. The three-match ODI series begins on January 19 at Boland Park, Paarl. The second ODI will play at the same venue on January 21 while the third and final match of the series will be played on January 23 at Newlands in Cape Town.
