Sri Lanka’s Dilruwan Perera Retires from International Cricket

Sri Lanka’s Dilruwan Perera retired from international cricket, Dilruwan is a Sri Lankan cricketer. His full name is Mahawaduge Dilruwan Kamalaneth Perera and his batting style is Right-handed, and his bowling style is Right-arm off-spin, Perera is an all-rounder.

The Retirement from Cricket :-

Dilruwan Perera has announced his retirement from international cricket after 43 Tests, 13 ODIs, and five T20 Internationals.

The all-rounder has scored 1456 runs across all records and has taken 177 wickets at the international level.

Perera has expressed his desire to continue playing domestic cricket. Dilruwan Perera made his ODI debut for the first time in 2007 against England in Colombo.

Seven years later, he made his Test debut against Pakistan in Sharjah.

The Best Performed :-

Batting at No. 8, he scored 95 runs and took 161 wickets with his off-spin average of 35.90, which was his best performance against South Africa, where he won.

10 for 78 in Galle in 2018. His last Test was also at the same ground in January last year.

In ODIs, Dilruwan Perera averaged 31.46 and took 13 wickets in the same number of matches, while taking three wickets in three T20Is.

However, he hasn’t worked in any limited-overs side since 2018, his last T20I appearance was in 2011.

Perera’s International Career

In the first Test against South Africa, he took a match-winning ten for 78 at the Galle International Stadium. This was also his second tender and sixth fifer.

South Africa was all out for just 73 runs, their lowest score after readmission. Sri Lanka eventually won the match by 278 runs.

In November 2018, in the third Test against England, Dilruwan became the fastest bowler for Sri Lanka, in subjects of matches, to take 100 wickets at home in Tests, in his 20th match.
