The 73-year-old Gavaskar said during a show on the sports channel – Hardik Pandya will be the sixth bowler if Team India takes the field with six bowlers. In such a situation, Pant will not get a place. However, if the team management decides to go with Hardik Pandya as the fifth bowler, Rishabh Pant has a chance to bat at No.6 and Karthik might come to bat at No.7. Gavaskar said that he definitely wants a left-hander in the Indian middle order. For the last three or four overs, who is better Karthik or Rishabh? So, these are all situations that the team management will look into and they will take a call on.
