The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed who is going to conduct the IPL 2024 auction. Till now foreign auctioneers used to bid for players in IPL, but this time an Indian is going to do so. What is even more important is that she is a woman.
Mallika Sagar will conduct the auction :-
“An independent professional auctioneer, Mallika Sagar, will conduct the auction and will be the sole arbiter for all aspects of the auction,” BCCI has informed the franchises, reports Cricbuzz. Sagar conducted the first two auctions of the Women’s Premier League. It seems that by appointing Mallika Sagar, BCCI has done away with foreign auctioneers.

Hugh Edmeades was the last foreign auctioneer in IPL :-
The last foreign auctioneer in the IPL was Hugh Edmeades. Before him, Richard Madley used to conduct the auctions in the first 10 years of IPL. In the 2022 season, Hugh Edmeades fell unconscious. After that BCCI officials soon called an Indian professional auctioneer, who was a resident of Bengaluru, where the auction was going on. Within no time Charu Sharma took over the hammer.
