Irani Cup 2022: Irani Cup 2022 will be played between Saurashtra and Rest of India from Saturday (October 1). Veteran batsman Cheteshwar Pujara would like to return to Team India with his brilliant game when he takes on Saurashtra against Rest of India in the Irani Cup match here on Saturday. At the same time, five specialist openers have got a place in the rest of India’s team for this match.

Saurashtra team got big chance

Madhya Pradesh is the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy champion. But Saurashtra being the 2019-20 champions, is playing this match of the Irani Trophy as the match could not be for two consecutive seasons due to the Kovid-19 epidemic. Earlier, the match of Ranji Champions vs Rest of India used to be like a trial match of Team India. Where it was considered sure to get Team India’s place if it performed well.

Not getting place in Team India

Irani Cup 2022 is a good opportunity for the players trying to make a place in Team India. And most of the players who were part of the recent A series against New Zealand have got a place in the team. Saurashtra’s team has experienced Test players in Pujara. Who would like to strengthen their claim in the team before the series in Bangladesh. Pujara recently performed brilliantly for Sussex in both red ball and white ball (List A). But it remains to be seen whether the selectors will stick with him in the Test match.

There will be trouble for these bowlers

Pujara, however, has scored tons of runs at his home ground. And can add to the troubles of young fast bowlers like Umran Malik, Kuldeep Sen and Arjan Nagwaswala. As well as budding spinners like R Sai Kishore and Saurabh Kumar. At the same time, Jaydev Unadkat will lead the bowling attack of Saurashtra. The team also has Chetan Sakariya who can bring the ball inside for the right-handed batsmen.
