‘Uganda’ created history, ‘qualified’ for ICC World Cup for the first time, ‘Zimbabwe’ was out

Team Uganda created history by qualifying for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on November 30, becoming only the fifth African nation to participate in the tournament. This will be his first appearance in an ICC World Cup event.

Uganda won five out of its six matches :-

Uganda finished in the top two of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier with five wins from six matches as they defeated Rwanda in their last match. The other team that has qualified along with Uganda is not Zimbabwe but Namibia. This means that Zimbabwe is out of the race for next year’s premier tournament ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Uganda’s performance was like this :-

In the first match of the qualifiers, Uganda easily defeated Tanzania by eight wickets. But in the very next match, Uganda had to face defeat against Namibia due to the brilliant performance of Namibian all-rounder David Wiese.

In the very next match, Uganda made a brilliant comeback and achieved a spectacular victory by defeating Zimbabwe by five wickets. In this match, Ugandan bowler Dinesh Nakrani took 3 wickets of Zimbabwe for just 14 runs.

Entry in T20 World Cup by defeating Nigeria :-

After this, the team easily defeated Nigeria by 9 wickets in its fourth match. After this, they defeated Kenya by 33 runs in their fifth match and secured their place in the T20 World Cup.

Also, Uganda continued its excellent performance in its last match and easily defeated Rwanda by nine wickets. Due to Uganda’s excellent bowling, Rwanda was reduced to just 65 runs in the 9th over.
