WBBL Final 2023: In the thrilling final of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL 2023), Adelaide Strikers defeated Brisbane Heat by 3 runs. The defending champion Strikers defended their title in the final match played at Adelaide Oval. Batting first, Adelaide Strikers scored 125 runs in 20 overs. Defending the target, Adelaide restricted Brisbane Heat to 122 runs in 20 overs.
WBBL Final 2023: Heat needed 13 runs in the last over :-
With the Heat needing 13 runs from the last over, the match could have gone either way, but in the end, Amanda-Jade Wellington did not give the Heat batsmen any chance to win the match. Wellington took 3 wickets for 16 runs in 4 overs. Wellington was named Player of the Match. Megan Scutt and Tahlia McGrath got two wickets each.
The captain played the captaincy innings :-
Adelaide Strikers won the toss and decided to bat first. From the team’s overs, captain Tahlia McGrath scored 38 runs and Wolvaardt scored the highest innings of 39 runs. Bridget Patterson contributed 11 runs. Apart from this, no batsman could cross the double figures. Strikers scored 125 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. Nicola Hancock got three wickets.
Even Amelia Kerr could not win :-
Brisbane Heat got off to a good start while chasing a small target. Lost the wicket of Grace Harris at the score of 32. Grace Harris scored 15 runs. Georgia Redmayne was out after scoring 22 runs. Amelia Kar scored 30 not out. Charlie Knott fought for victory for some time by scoring 20 runs. However, she could not lead the team to victory. Brisbane Heat could score only 122 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs.
