The Indian captain said, ‘When you know a player is going through a bad time, we try to give him a clear understanding of what is happening. Let’s try to explain to him what we are expecting from him. What is his role in the team? So when I play matches, I don’t come off with any particular mantra. It is important for me to understand the player and make him face his ability. That’s where the player shines because when we tell him what the team is expecting from you, I think he works in that direction and improves. So these are the things I always try to remember.’
