Navi Mumbai, Pretr. In the IPL 2022 season, Mumbai Indians got their first win against Rajasthan. After this defeat to Rajasthan, the team’s AAP spinner R Ashwin said that if the dew did not play an important role, the target of 159 runs would have been sufficient. In this match, Mumbai had a target of 159 runs which they achieved in 19.2 overs. For Mumbai, Suryakumar Yadav scored 51 runs and Tilak Verma scored 35 runs to give victory to the team.

R Ashwin said that there was a lot of dew, so it seemed that we scored 10-15 runs less
R Ashwin said after Rajasthan’s defeat that I think if dew had not played a role then this score would have been enough, but there was a lot of dew, so it felt that we scored 10-15 runs less. He said 158 was a competitive score. It was related to how we had started. We did well in the powerplays and took one wicket more than him. So it was a challenging score and we defended well whatever score we scored this season. The defeat is unfortunate but the dew played a key role. The ball was getting overpitched and the spinners could not be used at the end.

Rajasthan didn’t let Mumbai do anything special in the powerplay
He said that it happens when dew has an effect. We had scored well. If it was 10-15 runs more, it would have been good but in IPL (of a team) it sometimes happens in 14 matches. Rajasthan did not allow Mumbai to do much in the powerplay and also took two wickets but part-time bowler Daryl Mitchell conceded 20 runs in the seventh over.

Ashwin said that in the last match also Daryl Mitchell had done the seventh over. It’s part of our strategy for the sixth bowler, but it didn’t work in this match and sometimes it happens. Mumbai fielded Suryakumar at number three and he got the advantage. Suryakumar said that I never celebrate personal achievements, but if they help the team then I will be very happy. Winning creates a positive atmosphere.
