Virat Kohli is out of these series :-

This will effectively rule him out of India’s upcoming tour of South Africa and the three-match T20 series against Afghanistan in January. If Indian Express is to be believed, Kohli has decided to focus on red-ball cricket for the time being and will play only two Tests in South Africa.

Kohli informed BCCI and selectors :-

“Kohli has informed the BCCI and the selectors that he needs a break from white-ball cricket and he will contact them about when he wants to play white-ball cricket next. As of now, he has informed the BCCI that he “Will play red-ball cricket, which means he is available for selection for the two Test matches in South Africa.”

There is no clarity on the availability of Rohit Sharma :-

On the other hand, there is no clarity on the availability of India captain Rohit Sharma for the white-ball phase of the South Africa tour. Both Rohit and Kohli have not played T20 cricket since the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. But with the World Cup taking place in June next year, there were talks that both of them could make a comeback to T20 cricket to win the ICC trophy.

Also, after the way Rohit performed with the bat in the World Cup and the leadership skills he possesses, it is appropriate to ask him to lead India in the T20 World Cup.

Both Kohli and Rohit are enjoying holidays with their families:-

Both Kohli and Rohit are currently in the UK and are holidaying with their families. The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee is likely to announce India’s squad for the South Africa tour within this week.
