Indian women’s cricket team’s medium pacer Renuka Thakur took five wickets in her T20 International career best bowling performance against England in the Women’s T20 World Cup on Saturday. India restricted England to 151/7 thanks to a brilliant bowling performance by Renuka.

Renuka Thakur took five wickets for 15 runs in 4 overs. He dismissed three English batsmen in his first spell and then came on to take two more wickets towards the end of the innings. The Indian team won the toss and decided to bowl first and Renuka Thakur justified this decision by getting Dan Wyatt caught by Richa Ghosh. After this, he hunted two more batsmen in his next two overs.

Renuka Thakur Made a Record

Renuka first dismissed Alice Capsy and then clean bowled Sophia Dunkley to put England on the backfoot. In the end, Renuka registered her name in the pages of history by taking two more wickets. Renuka Thakur has become the first Indian bowler to have the best bowling performance in Women’s T20 World Cup history.

At the same time, in the current Women’s T20 World Cup, Renuka Thakur has become the second bowler to take five wickets in an innings. Earlier, Australia’s Ashley Gardner did a wonderful job of taking five wickets for 12 runs against New Zealand in Paarl. Renuka has reached second place in this list.

Renuka Thakur’s brilliant performance was not successful in winning the Indian team. England batting first scored 151/7 in 20 overs on Saturday. In response, the Indian team could score 140 runs losing 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and lost by 11 runs. If the Indian team has to reach the semi-finals of the current tournament, then it will have to win its last match at any cost. The Indian team will play its last match against Ireland on Monday.
