World Cup Winner Fran Wilson Retires From International Cricket

Fran Wilson, a member of England’s World Cup winning team in 2017, has announced his retirement from international cricket. The 29-year-old Wilson played 64 times for his country in a career spanning 11 years, including eight matches against England in the 2017 World Cup, end route to their victory over India at Lord’s in the final.

He also participated in the 2019 T20 World Cup in Australia. and made his final international appearance on England’s tour of New Zealand in February.

Known for his outstanding work in the field, Wilson’s highest score in ODI cricket came against Pakistan in 2019 with 85 off 49 balls. She will continue to play domestic cricket in the Rachel Hehowe Flint Trophy, Charlotte Edwards Cup and The Hundred.

Fran Wilson is Incredibly Proud to have Played for his Country for the Past 10 Years

Fran Wilson said, “I am incredibly proud to have played for my country for the past 10 years. And now is the right time to step away.” “I am looking forward to the challenges that domestic cricket will bring in the next chapter of my playing career.

“Playing for England takes you to the limit. And I am grateful for the experiences that have made me better on and off the pitch. The memories I have made with some wonderful teams are ones. I will always cherish and I will cherish.”I want to thank everyone who has been a part of my visit to England.”

Fran Wilson has Served his Country for Over a Decade

England women’s head coach Lisa Keightley said. “Fran Wilson has served her country for over a decade and can be very proud of the work she has done and what she has achieved.

“In my time on the job I’ve really enjoyed working with Frank. He’s such a positive influence on the group. He’s a real team player, he’s very popular. And we really love him as part of our team.” I will remember.

Wilson’s Retirement From International Cricket is a Very Difficult Decision

“Fran Wilson’s retirement from international cricket is a very difficult decision. But our loss will be the advantage of the domestic game. Fran has always given everything for England and I know she will continue to do so in domestic cricket.”
