WPL 2023: Delhi Register One-Sided Victory on the Basis of Marijane Cap and Shafali Verma, Gujarat Suffers Third Defeat

Navi Mumbai, PTI. Delhi Capitals defeated Gujarat Giants by ten wickets in the WPL match on the basis of a stormy half-century by opener Shefali Verma after the deadly bowling of bowler Marijane Kapp. This is Delhi’s third win in the tournament.

Gujarat Batsmen did Not Work

In this match, Shefali scored an unbeaten 76 in just 28 balls hitting ten fours and five sixes. He scored the second fastest half-century of WPL. Shefali scored 50 runs in just 19 balls. Gujarat Giants elected to bat after winning the toss and could manage only 105 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs in front of Cap’s bowling.

The South African bowler took five wickets and became the third bowler to do so in the tournament. Before him, Delhi’s Tar Norris and Gujarat’s Kim Grath have taken five wickets. After this, captain Meg Lanning (21) and Shefali showed no mercy to the Gujarat bowlers and shared an unbeaten 107-run partnership in just 7.1 overs to give the team victory.

Marijane Cap did Amazing

Let us tell you that the deadly bowling of Delhi Capitals all-rounder Marijane Kapp destroyed the top order of Gujarat Giants. Cap took five wickets, dismissing the opening four batsmen, which was his best performance of the tournament. Till the time of writing the news, Gujarat had lost seven wickets for 72 runs in 15 overs. Batting first after winning the toss, Cap gave a big blow to Gujarat by dismissing opener Shabneni Meghana on the second ball of the first over.

Capp then dismissed Laura Wolvaardt and Ashley Gardner in his second over to put Gujarat on the back foot. The team had lost five wickets in the powerplay. CAP made Harleen Deol the fourth victim and Sushma Verma the fifth. Apart from them, Shikha Pandey and Radha Yadav took one wicket each.
