WPL: Virat’s Message Gave RCB First Win, Player of the Match Kanika Revealed

In the Women’s Premier League 2023, the RCB team has got its first win. Smriti Mandhana’s team defeated UP by five wickets due to Kanika Ahuja’s brilliant innings. This was RCB’s first win in this tournament. This being the first season of the Women’s Premier League, the RCB women’s team tasted victory for the first time.

RCB Team has Achieved the First Win

Punjab’s young all-rounder Kanika Ahuja played a brilliant inning of 46 runs in 30 balls. This is the highest score by any uncapped player in the Women’s Premier League. Chasing 136 against UP Warriors, Kanika scored a quick run at a crucial juncture to take her team to victory. After losing five consecutive matches, the RCB team has achieved its first win.

After this match, Kanika said that after talking to Indian men’s team cricketer Virat Kohli, she got the inspiration to play this strong innings. Kanika, 20, said, “Virat sir told us that there is nothing like pressure here. It is all about happiness.” Virat Kohli did not attend the optional practice session of the Indian team on Wednesday. He had reached out to the women’s team of RCB. During this he met the entire team including Kanika.

“He told us not to put pressure on ourselves when we step on the field. He said we are getting a chance to play here, it is a matter of happiness for us. Not everyone gets such opportunities,” Kanika said.

Kanika further added that she wants to be a 360-degree batsman like Suryakumar Yadav, capable of hitting big shots all around the ground. He said that during the match only one thing was going on in his mind that at any cost the team has to win the match. The target was small and she could take her time. He did the same and waited for the bad balls. Hit big shots on getting a bad ball and won the match for the team. He dedicated this innings to his mother, who inspired him to become a cricketer.

Chasing 136 in the match against UP, RCB lost four wickets for 60 runs. After this, Kanika Ahuja shared a 60-run partnership with Richa Ghosh to win her team.
