Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was undoubtedly one of the greatest match-winners for India in white-ball cricket. The southpaw also played a key role in India’s victories in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 World Cup. During his illustrious career, Yuvraj has played the role of both fast bowlers and spinners without any difficulty.

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar on handling spin
However, the southpaw recalled that he fought against the great Muttiah Muralitharan in Sharjah. He said that despite being a good batsman of spin, he struggled against Muralitharan and failed to face him.

Big contribution of father Yograj Singh
The 40-year-old revealed that it was his father Yograj Singh who groomed him to play fast bowling at a young age. Yuvraj said that his father, who also played cricket for India. He was bowled on a 17-yard pitch with wet tennis and leather balls to prepare him for the fast paced track. Which helped in the early stages of his career against Australia and South Africa.
How to play spin bowling?
“I spoke to Sachin about how to counter these guys, how to play spin bowling? He told me to learn to play the sweep shot. Initially, I got out several times trying to play such shots but later I started dominating the spinners, (Yuvraj).
The 40-year-old played 304 ODIs for India. He scored 8701 runs, while in 58 T20Is, he scored 1177 runs at a strike rate of 136.38.
