Rahul Dravid Contract: With Rahul Dravid as the coach, the Indian cricket team performed brilliantly in the World Cup, winning 10 consecutive matches and reaching the finals. However, it had to face defeat at the hands of Australia in the title match. With the end of the World Cup, Rahul Dravid’s contract as coach has also ended and according to the report, he does not want his contract to continue further.

Rahul Dravid does not want to extend his contract

Head coach Rahul Dravid is not ‘interested’ in extending his two-year contract with the Indian team after the ODI World Cup 2023, according to reports. Current NCA director VVS Laxman is the frontrunner to replace Dravid as head coach.

VVS Laxman can be the coach of Team India: Report

BCCI sources have confirmed the decision to Times of India, indicating a significant change in the leadership of Team India. Rahul Dravid is expected to be replaced by his close friend VVS Laxman. Dravid is the current head coach of the Indian team participating in the five-match T20 series against Australia in Vizag.

VVS Laxman has expressed his desire for Team India

VVS Laxman, who also heads the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He has expressed keen interest in taking up the role, he is expected to sign the contract as the head coach of Team India with his first assignment likely to be the upcoming tour of South Africa.

Dravid: Ready for a role as chief at NCA

The source said “Dravid has informed the BCCI that he is not interested in continuing as the full-time coach. For almost 20 years, he has traveled with the Indian team as a player, and for the last few years. He has again been going through the same tough phase which he does not want to go through. He is set to take up a role as chief at the NCA (a role he previously held), which will allow him to be based in his hometown Bengaluru. Like before, he has no objection to coaching the team sporadically, but not as a full-time coach again.”
