The challenge for CSK is a comeback after forgetting the IPL 2020 failure

Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team will have a big challenge for is a comeback after forgetting the IPL 2020 failure and try to make a strong comeback this Indian Premier League (IPL) 14th season.

Three-time champion CSK failed to make it to the playoffs in the 2020 tournament played in the United Arab Emirates. This was the first occasion in the history of the tournament while Dhoni’s team could not make it to the playoffs.

The team will go on to start afresh in the IPL starting on April 9. His first match will be against Delhi Capitals in Mumbai on 10 April.

CSK’s strong side is that it has experienced players who have been crossing the team’s eyes in difficult situations. Dhoni’s inspiring leadership is another positive aspect of the team. Suresh Raina’s return has strengthened his batting. Last year, he did not play in the tournament.

Apart from Raina, CSK’s batting appears to be strong in the presence of players like Faf Du Plessis, Dhoni, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Moin Ali, and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

CSK’s bowling attack is also good with bowlers like Lungi Ngidi, Shardul Thakur, Sam Curran, Imran Tahir, Jadeja, and Deepak Chahar.

Players like Dhoni, Raina, Rayudu, and Tahir have retired from international cricket and also do not play in domestic cricket. In such a situation, the lack of match practice may be overshadowed by the team. Apart from this, the team has also suffered due to Dhoni not being able to play the same role as the finisher.

Australian fast bowler, Josh Hazlewood’s decision to withdraw from IPL is also a shock for CSK. Apart from this, Jadeja is also coming back after a long rest due to injury and it has to be seen how quickly he achieves rhythm.

West Indies veteran all-rounder Dwayne Bravo will not be able to perform well on his return and his injury will also be a matter of concern for CSK.

This time IPL matches will be played at neutral venues. CSK has been heavily dependent on its spin department and in this case, it will have to change its strategy. Especially on Mumbai wickets where fast bowlers also get help.

CSK is committed to returning from the previous season’s failure, but for this, it will have to perform well from the very beginning. It will also be important for them to prepare a good team combination as soon as possible.

CSK suffered losses due to their weak batting last year. If he does not improve in this department, then his chances of return will be reduced. Not only this, but his fast bowlers will also have to play an important role to win the team.
