IPL 2022: Virender Sehwag backs Ruturaj Gaikwad as MS Dhoni’s successor, says Dhoni – Gaikwad has all the qualities of captaincy except one drawback.
The successor of CSK’s Ruturaj Gaikwad:-
Virender Sehwag has backed CSK’s youngster Ruturaj Gaikwad to succeed MS Dhoni after MS Dhoni for Chennai Super Kings.

Sehwag feels that CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has all the qualities of great cricketer Dhoni except one.
IPL 2022: It cannot be denied that Dhoni is a great leader because of his street smartness (MS Dhoni), but his luck has also been with him at times.
Gaikwad as CSK captain:-
Sehwag feels that Gaikwad does not have the luck as a CSK captain that Dhoni has.
Sehwag during a conversation with Cricbuzz said, “One can have a good season, but if Ruturaj Gaikwad plays 3-4 more seasons.
So he will become a captain who can become a long-term captain for Chennai Super Kings after MS Dhoni.
Why does the world consider MS Dhoni to be a good captain? Because he’s cool. He takes his own decisions and knows how to use his bowlers and batsmen well.
MS Dhoni is a brave captain:-
Luck is also a factor with Dhoni. But luck also favors those who are brave and MS Dhoni is a brave captain. Gaikwad has all the qualities of captaincy except luck. ,
Sehwag feels that Gaikwad is just as good and calm as Dhoni in all situations.
The former India opener further said that Gaikwad has captaincy experience as he has led Maharashtra in the past as well.

Cricketer turned expert Virender Sehwag also believes that the CSK opener is on par with Dhoni, whether he scores a century or gets dismissed for a duck.
Sehwag also feels that the CSK opener is consistent in scoring runs and takes ownership well.

IPL 2022: Ravindra Jadeja failed as the captain of CSK – Interestingly, Dhoni had given the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja, but Jadeja could not perform with both bat and ball during the captaincy.
He lost five matches and handed over the reins to Dhoni. With Jadeja unlikely to take the lead again, Sehwag believes that CSK may give the captaincy to Gaikwad after Dhoni quits playing for CSK.
