Virender Sehwag, LSG: Former India explosive opener Virender Sehwag has lashed out at Lucknow Supergiants for dropping Quinton de Kock from the team in the Eliminator match against Mumbai Indians. Sehwag said that Lucknow Supergiants had shot themselves in the foot by getting Cock out.
De Kock performed brilliantly for Lucknow Supergiants last year :-
De Kock starred for Lucknow Supergiants last year, scoring 508 runs in 15 matches at an average of 36.29. However, the 30-year-old Cock did not get much opportunities in the ongoing IPL and was replaced by Kyle Mayers in the Eliminator match. The left-handed batsman scored 140 runs in four matches in IPL 2023.
Sehwag taunted :-
Virender Sehwag criticized the decision to drop de Kock. Taking a jibe at the franchise, he said that they too have a good record in Chennai, but there is no guarantee that the players can go and perform better on that day.
Viru said that current form matters and Lucknow have hit themselves in the foot. Sehwag said, “I also have a good record in Chennai. Here I have played an innings of 319 runs. But that doesn’t mean that even today I will go and score runs. Current form matters and I think Lucknow have shot themselves in the foot by dropping De Kock.
What did Krunal Pandya say :-
Lucknow Supergiants captain Krunal Pandya expressed his opinion on the dismissal of Quinton de Kock in the crucial match. Krunal Pandya told that De Kock is a quality player, but Kyle Mayers’ record in Chennai is better than him. This is the reason why Kyle Meyers was given a chance. Please tell that Kyle Mayers failed to impress and returned to the dugout after scoring 18 runs. Lucknow suffered an 81-run defeat at the hands of Mumbai.
