IPL 2024: Shikhar is Missing From The Photoshoot Of IPL Captains! Will Jitesh Become The New Captain? Just a day before the start of IPL 2024, MS Dhoni shocked fans by stepping down as captain! The season kicks off tomorrow with the Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore match.
His Place Stood Wicketkeeper-Batsman Jitesh Sharma:-
Excited for the new season? Well, there was a bit of a mystery before the big games began. The BCCI held a photoshoot for all 10 team captains. Guess what? All captains showed up except for the Punjab Kings’ skipper, Shikhar Dhawan. In his place stood wicketkeeper-batsman Jitesh Sharma.

Looks Like Dhawan Just Couldn’t Make It To The Shoot:-
Everyone started buzzing! Did Punjab Kings follow Chennai’s lead and change captains? Nope! The IPL clarified on social media that only 9 captains were present, and Jitesh represented Punjab as their vice-captain. Looks like Dhawan just couldn’t make it to the shoot.
Jitesh Sharma, a 30-year-old right-handed wicketkeeper, debuted for Punjab Kings in 2022. He’s played 26 matches so far, scoring 543 runs. He even made his international debut last year in a T20 match!
Punjab Spent A Whopping 18.5 Crore To Get Curran:-
Remember Sam Curran from England? He captained Punjab Kings for 3 matches last season when Dhawan was unavailable. Punjab spent a whopping 18.5 crore to get Curran on their team.
Here’s the interesting part: Dhawan is 38. There’s a chance he might step down as captain in the next year or two. That’s when Jitesh, the current vice-captain, could take over the reins!
