Steve Smith was selected by Delhi Capitals at a price of Rs 2.2 crore this season.

Mohammad Kaif, assistant coach of Delhi Capitals, said after the auction that they were lucky that Smith got the team so cheaply.

The Delhi Capitals team, which was runner-up last season of IPL 2021, the team will lead by young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant this year.

The Delhi team will take on Chennai Super Kings in their first match of IPL 2021 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 10 April.
