IPL Impact Player Rule 2024: Questions are being raised on the strange Impact Player rule, BCCI’s unique rule. On March 25, the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings was played. RCB, chasing the target of 176 runs, seemed to be in trouble once.
RCB had lost 6 wickets at the score of 130 runs and the team still needed 47 runs in 22 balls. In such a situation, Mahipal Lomror was fielded as an impact player in place of Yash Dayal. Mahipal contributed significantly to RCB’s victory by playing an inning of 17 runs in 8 balls.
Had it not been for his 48-run partnership with Dinesh Karthik, RCB might have lost its second consecutive match in IPL 2024. Now Mahipal Lomror has termed the Impact Player rule as a very strange rule.

The Role Of Impact Player:-
Describing the role of an impact player as strange, Mahipal Lomror said, “To be honest, when I went to bat, I was feeling very strange being an impact player.
The impact player rule is such that you can be called upon at any time, so a player always has to be ready for responsibility. The name of this rule itself tells that you have to leave an impact on the match as soon as you leave.
I was Mentally Prepared For This:-
The team management spoke to me last night and told me that in case of a chase, I could be sent to bat, so I was mentally prepared for it.”
Mahipal Lomror came to RCB from Rajasthan Royals in 2022. He further said, “The team management wants to prepare me for this role. Their strategy is very clear because our batting is very strong and this is the place where I can be used.
Earlier, I used to bat in the upper order, which allowed me to play more balls, but being an impact player, you do not get more balls. That’s why whenever I am in the nets, I try to hit the very first ball.
RCB Won The First Match Of The IPL:-
In the first match of IPL 2024, RCB had to face defeat by 6 wickets against CSK. But in the second match, Royal Challengers Bangalore was successful in defeating Punjab Kings.
Virat Kohli played an inning of 77 runs in 49 balls, but when the team needed 57 runs, Kohli was out on the ball of Harshal Patel.
The form of Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell remains a matter of concern, both of them scored only 3 runs in this match.

Whereas Rajat Patidar got the start, but was bowled at the score of 18 runs. But the brilliant innings of Dinesh Karthik and impact player Mahipal Lomror have given RCB its first win in IPL 2024.
