When Ravi Bishnoi was selected in the Indian team for the T20 series against South Africa, it was a clear indication that he is part of the long-term strategy of the team management in view of the T20 World Cup next year.

India have to play six T20s before the World Cup and it is understood that 23-year-old Bishnoi is sure to get preference over Yuzvendra Chahal. Chahal is not part of the Indian team for the T20 series against South Africa. Chahal took nine wickets in nine T20 matches this year while Bishnoi took 18 wickets in 11 matches.

Muttiah Muralitharan said this about Ravi Bishnoi:-

Sri Lankan great spinner Muttiah Muralitharan has praised Bishnoi for his brilliant performance in the five-match T20 series against Australia. He described Bishnoi as completely different from other leg spinners.

Muralitharan told Geo Cinema, “Bishnoi is different from other leg spinners. He bowls fast and makes the ball slide. It is very difficult to play him on helpful wickets.” Bishnoi made his debut in T20 International cricket in February 2022. He has played 21 T20s for India so far and taken 24 wickets.
