The All-India Senior Selection Committee met on Tuesday to pick the squad for the first two Test matches to be played at Chennai against England.

Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (VC), KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (wk), Wriddhiman Saha (wk), R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Md. Siraj and Shardul Thakur
- The Committee also picked five net bowlers and five players as standbys.
Net Bowlers: Ankit Rajpoot, Avesh Khan, Sandeep Warrier, K Gowtham and Saurabh Kumar
Standby players: K S Bharat, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Shahbaz Nadeem, Rahul Chahar and Priyank Panchal
India’s Squad for first two test against , India also put some domestic cricket talents on standby for the first two Tests which includes KS Bharat (wk), A Easwaran, S. Nadeem, R. Chahar and Priyank Panchal.
- The BCCI also named the five net bowlers for the tour including A. Rajpoot, A. Khan, Sandeep Warrier, K Gowtham and Saurabh Kumar.
T Natarajan, who impressed everyone with his bowling skills during Australia tour, also missed out his place for first two Tests. While
Md Siraj and Shardul Thakur got chance after lethal bowling in the Brisbane Test.
Prithvi Shaw has been axed from the squad after a dismal show in the first two Test against Australia.
KL Rahul, who returned to India midway from Australia due to injury, has also been included in the squad but is expected to miss the opening Test against England.
The five-match Test series begins in Chennai on February 5, and India would continue their bid to reach the World Test Championship final under Virat Kohli’s leadership
