IPL: This will be the new coach of Punjab Kings in place of Anil Kumble

Indian Premier League (IPL) team Punjab Kings on Friday appointed Trevor Bayliss as their new head coach. Replacing former veteran Anil Kumble, ahead of the tournament’s next season. The team did not perform well under former India captain Anil Kumble, after which Punjab Kings did not renew his contract.

Punjab Kings is a franchise that is hungry for success

Trevor Bayliss said in a statement issued by the franchise, “I am honored to be appointed as the head coach of Punjab Kings. Punjab Kings is one such franchise which is hungry for success. I look forward to working with this team full of talented players.”

Bayliss is a very experienced coach. It was under him that England won the 50-over World Cup in 2019. Kolkata Knight Riders won IPL titles in 2012 and 2014 under Bayliss. While he was also instrumental in helping Sydney Sixers win the Big Bash League title.

The team of Punjab Kings could not make it to the IPL playoffs for three consecutive years under the coach of Nil Kumble.

Bayliss was the head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2020 and 2021 IPL seasons. The Punjab Kings team could not make it to the IPL playoffs for three consecutive years under Anil Kumble’s coach.
