Why did LSG not play its key player against MI, Krunal Pandya explained the reason

The journey of LSG in IPL 2023 comes to an end. Krunal Pandya-led Lucknow suffered an 81-run defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator match on Wednesday. LSG dropped their key opener Quinton de Kock from the playing 11 in the crucial match against Mumbai Indians.

Know why did Lucknow drop Quinton de Kock –

In place of Quinton de Kock, Lucknow gave Kyle Meyers a chance and used him as an impact substitute. However, Kyle Meyers failed to live up to the expectations and was dismissed for 18 runs in 13 balls. After the match, LSG captain Krunal Pandya was asked why Quinton de Kock was dropped in the crucial match?

In response, Krunal Pandya said – “We know that Quinton de Kock is a quality player.” But Kyle Mayers has a better record at the Chepauk Stadium. This is the reason why we gave Kyle Meyers a chance to play in the playing 11. Let us tell you that after KL Rahul was out of the tournament due to injury, Quinton de Kock got a chance to play and he opened with Kyle Meyers.”
