Lokesh Kumar was working as a food delivery executive till 2 days ago, he would not have thought that he would join the World Cup as a net bowler. 29-year-old Mukesh is now part of the support staff of the Netherlands cricket team, which is training the team in Aloor, Chennai. As a spin bowler, he is preparing the batsmen in the nets.

Lokesh participated in this World Cup as a net bowler

This is the first time that the entire World Cup is going to be organized in India. The World Cup is starting from 5th October, for which Indian fans are eagerly waiting. All the fans hope that Team India will definitely win the title this time while playing at home. Lokesh will also be among the millions of fans who will be waiting for the World Cup, but even they will not have any idea that he himself will participate in this World Cup as a net bowler.

Lokesh selected among 10 thousand bowlers

He has been working in a food delivery company since 2018. He was selected by the Netherlands cricket team as their net bowler on Tuesday. This team had advertised for net bowlers on social media. After looking at about 10 thousand bowlers, the team chose this left-arm spin bowler. Lokesh had sent the video of his bowling online.

I have not even played in the TNCA Third Division League yet.

Speaking to Times of India, Lokesh said, “This is one of the most precious moments of my career. I have not even played in the TNCA Third Division League yet. I played in the fifth division for four years. And registered for the season for fourth-division outfit Indian Oil (RO) S&RC. I think my talent is finally being recognized.”

I already feel like I’m part of the Netherlands team

Lokesh said, “Before starting the preparation, there was an induction ceremony for the net bowlers. The Netherlands team members welcomed me. The players told us, net bowlers, that you should feel free, this is your team. I already feel like I am part of the Netherlands team.”

Working as a food delivery executive indirectly helped a cricketer develop

Lokesh is very happy after joining this team. He said, “After seeing the advertisement, I was eager to apply for it. It was thought that I would get priority because there are not many Chinaman bowlers in the country. The Netherlands team was looking for a mystery spinner, so I decided to apply. Working as a food delivery executive is indirectly helping me develop as a cricketer.”
