ICC ODI Rankings: After Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, now Shubman Gill reaches the top

ICC ODI Rankings Shubman Gill: Indian star Shubman Gill has reached the top in the latest ICC ODI rankings. Whereas till now Babar Azam remained at the top. Shubman Gill overtook Babar on the back of a solid start to India’s campaign at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and in the process became the fourth player from his country after Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli to achieve the number one spot.

Babar remained at the top for more than two years

The right-handed batsman contributed 92 runs against Sri Lanka and 23 against South Africa last week and has scored a total of 219 runs in six innings in the tournament. Babar has scored a total of 282 runs in eight innings in the World Cup and has dropped to second position, six rating points below Gill. Babar remained at the top as the number 1 ODI batsman in the world for more than two years.

Gill is on top and Kohli is in fourth place

Gill rising to the top in the latest ODI batsmen’s rankings and former captain Kohli rising to fourth place is a big day for India, with fast bowler Mohammed Siraj also reaching the top of the ODI bowlers’ list with his 10 wickets in the World Cup.

Gill reached the top for the first time in his career

Shubman Gill has reached the top spot for the first time in his short but impressive career, while Kohli has jumped three places to fourth position with his 543 runs in the World Cup and is followed by South African Quinton de Kock in third place. Shreyas Iyer also jumped an impressive 17 places to 18th in the ODI batsmen’s list, while Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman (up three places to 11th) and Afghanistan counterpart Ibrahim Zadran (up six places to 12th) are in good stead.

Due to good performance in the World Cup, there has been a big change in the top 10 of both batting and bowling ODI lists.
