And he has been made the captain of the 15-member New Zealand team. 2019 World Cup star player Jimmy Neesham has been included in the team and two Indians are also present.

Captain Kane Williamson and veteran bowler Tim Southee have become part of an exclusive group of players to be selected for four or more ICC Men’s Cricket World Cups after being confirmed in the New Zealand squad for the 2023 tournament on Monday morning.

The experienced squad for the tournament starting in India on October 5 was announced at an event at World Cup squad member Ish Sodhi’s old school, Papatoetoe High School, in Auckland on Monday morning.

Gujarat Titans batsmen Williamson and Southee, who last played for New Zealand in the tournament held in India in 2011, join the six players in the squad. Who has been selected for the tournament for the first time?

Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell, and Glenn Phillips have been included in the ODI World Cup squad for the first time, having previously been included in the T20 World Cup squad.

All-rounder Rachin Ravindra and batsman Will Young have also got a chance in the World Cup team for the first time.

The group of new players is balanced by an experienced core including Trent Boult, Matt Henry, and Tom Latham, who are all appearing in their third 50-over World Cup squad.

Two Indian Players Included

Players of Indian origin are going to handle the responsibility of spin in the New Zealand team. It includes Rachin Ravindra and Ish Sodhi.

Rachin may have been born in New Zealand but his father is Indian. Ish Sodhi is a resident of Ludhiana, Punjab.
