Jasprit Bumrah has become the first Indian bowler to take a wicket on the very first ball of the ODI World Cup innings. Till date no Indian bowler has been able to do this before Bumrah. Bumrah achieved this feat by sending Nishanka to the pavilion.

Mohammed Shami created history :-

Along with Bumrah, his partner Mohammed Shami has also created history in the World Cup. Shami has now become the highest wicket-taker for India in the 50-over World Cup. Mohammed Shami has left Zaheer Khan behind by taking five wickets against Sri Lanka. Shami now has 45 wickets in his name in the World Cup, while Zaheer has taken a total of 44 wickets.

Shami in the post-match presentation stated, "I dedicated my 5-wicket haul to our bowling coach Paras Mhambrey because he supported me during a low phase and enhanced my skills.
