Glenn Maxwell gave a memorable performance and led Australia to a strong comeback against Afghanistan on Tuesday (November 7) in Mumbai. Maxwell also made it possible for the Australian team, which had lost 91/7 wickets. Glenn achieved the target of 292 runs by playing an unbeaten inning of 201 runs in 128 balls.

This is the first double-century scored by an Australian batsman in ODI cricket. Even Maxwell’s back problem could not stop him from batting stormily at Wankhede and destroying the Afghan bowling. He achieved the target which at one time seemed impossible for Australia by hitting 21 fours and 10 sixes. Maxwell made a record 202-run partnership with Pat Cummins for the eighth wicket.

Afghanistan, playing first, scored 291/7 in 50 overs, with Ibrahim Zadran becoming the first Afghan batsman to score a century in the World Cup with his innings of 129 runs in 143 balls.

Glenn Maxwell became the only cricketer in ODI cricket history to score a double century while chasing. Before him, the highest individual score in run change in ODI was by Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman, who scored 193 runs against Africa in 2021.

After him in the list, former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson scored 185 runs, followed by former Indian captain MS Dhoni with 183 runs and batsman Virat Kohli with 183 runs.
